What is the Fenis?

The Fenis is a unique stand-to-pee urination device allowing women to urinate in a standing position and control the direction of the flow, similar to men.

How does it work?

The Fenis is designed to fit under and around the female genitals, and held in position when urinating in a standing position. The flow travels down through the phallus, and can be directed by hand.

Why would I use the Fenis?

The Fenis is intended as an alternative outlet for urination when a washroom may not be available. It can be used to avoid contact in unsanitary conditions, or to urinate in a standing position when away from or using a traditional washroom.

How do I clean it? Is it sanitary?

There are many ways to clean the Fenis, depending on your options. If used outdoors, it can be rinsed with plain water, or wiped with a sanitizing gel or spray. If used in a public washroom, it can be stored in a sealed bag or case after use, or even rinsed or washed while hand washing afterward. Because the Fenis is silicone, nearly all fluid beads off its surface after use.

The Fenis can be easily washed with soap and water, detergents, or most any cleaning agent. It can even be boiled for sterilization. The surface of the Fenis is smooth and poreless, and the material does not support microbiological growth.

What is it made of?

The Fenis is made of silicone; a soft, flexible, skin-like material. This allows it to be easily folded, and to fit and conform around the body to capture urine release. Fluids naturally roll off its surface, and it dries very easily. Silicone is a non-toxic inert material. It is also resistant to heat or UV light.

How do I store it?

The Fenis can be stored in a sealed bag or case, before or after use. Users may wish to store tissue or toilet paper with the Fenis for after use.

Where did it come from?

The Fenis began with a conversation, and an idea that it might be fun for a woman to try to urinate the way a man does. Its inventor Ryan Hale studied design at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, with an interest in industrial and product design, and decided to test his skills as a designer by attempting to produce a practical device which would let women urinate in a standing position like men, including a way to manually control the direction of the stream. The Fenis as it exists today is the result of that continued endeavour.

Are there different sizes?

Currently the Fenis is designed to function as a one-size-fits-all solution. However, our new product Mr. Fenis is a larger version of the standard Fenis.

How do I care for it?

The Fenis is a very durable object, and with proper care can last for years. Care should be taken to avoid contact with sharp objects as the Fenis can be cut or punctured.

Is it disposable? How long does it last?

The Fenis is designed to be a reusable solution. It does not need to be discarded after use. When properly cared for the Fenis can last for many years and still function.

Is it safe to share?

Generally, sharing the Fenis is not recommended. If it must be shared, care must be taken to properly sanitize between users.

Is there a carrying case for the Fenis?

We will be developing a custom carrying case for the Fenis to be introduced in late 2012.

Why are there bubbles in the Fenis?

We hand-make the Fenis using an injection molding system. As part of this process, some bubbles are introduced into the final product. These bubbles are fully captured inside the silicone body. As we improve our manufacturing methods, we will eventually eliminate these bubbles from our products.
